Multi-talented Evanston native Kristin Lems was at the center of the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970’s.  A civil rights, feminist and environmental activist since her teens, she’s released eight highly enjoyable recordings over several decades.  Plus she wrote, performed and produced the radio play Saint Jane and the Wicked Wicks based in old Chicago and featuring her family connection to the famed Jane Addams.

About the venue:  since opening in 2021, UpRising Bakery & Cafe, the creation of master baker Corinna Bendel Sac, has become a famed McHenry County institution.  Scrumptious baked goods and a full menu with delicious sauces.  Coffee, beer and wine.  Entirely vegan and really good.  Come check it out.  On the north side of Algonquin Road about half a mile east of Randall Road — turn in by the Lottery Mart.
